Anthropic launches Claude Frontier Academy: $100M to train 10,000 engineers by end of 2027
Anthropic commits $100 million to a new Claude Frontier Academy that aims to certify 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027, starting with cohorts from Accenture, Deloitte, McKinsey, and Morgan Stanley.
What happened
Anthropic announced the Claude Frontier Academy on October 2, 2026, backed by a $100 million commitment, aiming to train 10,000 "Frontier Deployed Engineers" (FDEs) by the end of 2027. It targets the talent bottleneck in enterprise AI adoption: Anthropic says a small group of deeply skilled people drives an outsized share of what AI delivers inside large companies.
How the residency works
The program opens with the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, modeled on medical training: several days of in-person work alongside Anthropic engineers, a simulated enterprise deployment with security review and handover, then a graded practical. A 12-week residency follows, with each engineer leading a real Claude project inside their own organization; passing engineers earn the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. First badges expected in early 2027.
First cohorts
Engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Novo Nordisk and others are in the first cohorts. Cohorts are running in San Francisco, New York, and London; participation is by nomination through a company's Anthropic account team.
Why it matters
Anthropic expects an IPO later this year (reportedly targeting a $2 trillion valuation) and is spending heavily on enterprise distribution; this academy builds the workforce that deploys Claude inside large firms.
