ChatGPT gives Dots three new iOS Shortcuts actions: call your agent from the Action button
OpenAI's latest ChatGPT iOS update adds message, dictate, and call Shortcuts actions for Dots — assignable to the iPhone Action button — plus a widget with separate text and voice buttons.
What happened
OpenAI shipped a ChatGPT iPhone/iPad update late last week that adds three new Shortcuts actions for Dots — message your Dot, dictate to your Dot, and call your Dot — plus a new home-screen widget configuration with a "shortcut button" option that adds separate text and voice buttons. The actions run from Spotlight, inside custom shortcuts, or from the iPhone's Action button, so a voice call can be assigned to the button and used hands-free (e.g., on a walk).
Why it matters
This moves Dots out of the ChatGPT app into the parts of iOS people use without thinking, making the always-on agents easier to reach throughout the day. Each action asks you to choose which Dot to use, hinting that support for multiple Dots is on the way (OpenAI mentioned multi-dot support at DevDay without a timeline). Note the limits: the actions open your Dot thread in one of three modes; they cannot take input from other apps or return output for later steps, so Dots are not yet part of multi-app Shortcuts automations.
