Devin now runs on your ChatGPT plan: connect Go, Plus, or Pro and spend plan quota inside Devin

Cognition announced Oct 9 that Devin connects to any personal ChatGPT plan (Go, Plus, Pro), so all GPT model usage inside Devin draws from the plan's quota instead of Devin credits.

What happened

On October 9, 2026, Cognition announced on X that Devin users can now "use any personal ChatGPT plan with Devin": connect a Go, Plus, or Pro plan to Devin, and all GPT model usage will draw down from the plan's quota. OpenAI Codex product lead Thibault Sottiaux (@thsottiaux) reshared the announcement the same day, writing: "Your ChatGPT subscription is now also a Devin subscription."

This builds on the September 29 DevDay launch of "Sign in with ChatGPT," the official feature that lets paid ChatGPT subscribers sign in to third-party apps and run AI requests on their plan's included usage. OpenAI launched it with 16 partners including Cognition's Devin, Notion, Vercel, T3, OpenClaw, and Dactyl.

Why it matters

Devin Pro and Max cost $20 and $200 a month, and customers who hit Devin usage limits previously had to buy extra credits to keep agents running. Cognition's announcement means founders already paying for a ChatGPT plan can stretch that same subscription across both services, drawing agent work from quota they already pay for. For lean teams watching AI bills, that is the practical win: one subscription now covers both the chat tool and the coding agent.
