User reports dots cannot discover existing scheduled tasks, while ChatGPT Work can

A bug report on OpenAI's developer forum says dots cannot see all of a user's existing scheduled tasks, while a ChatGPT Work conversation can list them, and no OpenAI response has confirmed the behavior.

What happened

On October 7, 2026 at 2:11am, a user posted a bug report titled "Dot cannot discover all existing scheduled tasks while ChatGPT Work can" on the OpenAI Developer Community (Bugs category), saying the issue was observed on October 6, 2026.

The user's dot could not access all of their existing scheduled tasks, while a separate ChatGPT Work conversation successfully queried the saved scheduled-task inventory, including task instructions, schedules, and enabled/paused status. Access appeared inconsistent between the two contexts, with no clear explanation or supported recovery path.

The reporter explicitly says they are not claiming this proves an account-wide or product-wide bug, and asks whether this is an intended boundary between dot-owned tasks and tasks created elsewhere, a workspace or permissions difference, or a discovery bug. They want to use their dot to coordinate existing recurring work without recreating tasks and risking duplicate runs or alerts.

Why it matters

Commenter Daareek (Oct 7, 10:13am) noted three distinct questions that get collapsed into one: whether the task exists, whether the current AI surface is allowed to control it, and whether that surface can discover it through its exposed tools. They suggested a discover-first contract and explicit messaging such as "this task exists but I cannot inspect or control it from this surface" rather than behaving as if the task does not exist.

No official OpenAI response appears in the thread as of this check.
