Groundcover launches agent-to-agent observability for Codex and Claude
Observability startup groundcover launched agent-to-agent observability today, letting outside coding agents like OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude hand off production investigations to its own observability agent via MCP tools or async Agent Tasks.
What happened
groundcover Inc., an application observability startup, launched what it calls agent-to-agent observability on October 14, 2026. Outside AI coding agents such as Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's Codex can now hand production investigations to groundcover's own observability agent.
There are two integration paths: an agent that knows exactly which evidence it wants can pull logs, traces, and Kubernetes events directly through groundcover's Model Context Protocol tools; for vaguer problems, the agent sends an asynchronous Agent Task, gets a job ID back immediately, and receives the findings later as a completed root cause analysis or a draft dashboard.
Cursor and Amazon Web Services' Kiro can also connect through MCP. Inside groundcover itself, an Agent Mode lets engineers steer an investigation in real time or have the agent generate dashboards and monitors from what it finds. Teams can also bring @groundcover into a Slack incident thread, where it treats the conversation as context and draws on connected systems such as Linear and GitHub.
The capabilities are available now. Everything runs on groundcover's bring-your-own-cloud architecture, so telemetry stays inside the customer's own cloud account, and customers pay per node rather than by data volume.
Why it matters
Coding agents can already review a pull request and reason about how software should behave, but their view usually ends at deployment. groundcover's co-founder and CEO Shahar Azulay said agents "can't tell you what already did happen in production unless they have access to the evidence."
Letting a coding agent delegate the digging to a dedicated observability agent, without having to "become an observability expert," closes the loop between the code an agent writes and how that code actually behaves in production.
Context: groundcover is venture-backed and has raised $160 million to date, including a $100 million Series C round led by One Peak in July 2026; it acquired Kubernetes resource optimization startup Wand Cloud last month.
