OpenAI's status page shows a multi-product incident affecting ChatGPT conversations, image generations, Spaces and Pages, API rehydration, and Dots, with mitigation applied and recovery under monitoring as of Oct 5 evening.
What happened
On the evening of Oct 5 (listed as 2:44 AM UTC Oct 6 on the status page), OpenAI's official status history lists an incident: "Elevated errors affecting multiple products including ChatGPT (conversations), Image generations, Spaces and Pages, API rehydration, and Dots," with the update "We have applied the mitigation and are monitoring the recovery." Earlier the same day, OpenAI separately reported elevated error rates in ChatGPT conversations — investigating at 12:58 p.m. ET and monitoring at 1:55 p.m. ET — and that incident is now marked fully recovered. Dots is explicitly named among the affected products in the new multi-product incident.
Why it matters
This follows other elevated-error incidents around the Dots launch week — a launch-day outage on Sep 29 plus Oct 5 incidents — and this one explicitly names Dots itself as affected. It is the first time OpenAI's status page ties an incident directly to the new always-on agents.
Verified Oct 5, 2026.
