ChatGPT's Intelligent UI skips the priciest tier: Pro reasoning stays on GPT-6 Astra
OpenAI's new Intelligent UI turns ChatGPT answers into interactive tools and diagrams on every reasoning setting except one: the Pro reasoning option stays on GPT-6 Astra, which does not support it.
What happened
OpenAI's ChatGPT release notes, under an October 7, 2026 heading, say Intelligent UI is available "from Instant through Extra High reasoning" — but "the Pro reasoning option continues to use GPT-6 Astra and doesn't support Intelligent UI." That makes Pro reasoning the only setting in the Chat tab that does not get the interactive answers.
Why it matters
Paid plans (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise) are served GPT-6 Sol in the main chat, while Free and Go users get GPT-6 Luna — both ship with Intelligent UI, so replies can include calculators, bill splitters, side-by-side comparisons, tappable diagrams, and other interactive screens built as the answer streams.
What stays the same
The models behind ChatGPT Work and Codex are unchanged by this release. OpenAI has not said whether Astra will support the Intelligent UI component library later.
