Tibo: dots are coming to the EU, and your existing dot will keep working if you travel there
Tibo Sottiaux says existing dots will keep working for users who travel to the EU, and that dots are launching in the EU in the future.
What happened
On October 18, 2026, OpenAI Codex product lead Thibault "Tibo" Sottiaux (@thsottiaux) posted that OpenAI is "making it so that (a) if you had created a dot elsewhere and find yourself in the EU it will keep working (b) dots are coming to the EU in the future." The post was tracked in QuotaWire's Tibo log the same day with a link to the original X post.
Why it matters
At Dots' September 29 launch, Europe was excluded from the rollout. This is the first official word that EU availability is on the way, plus a fix so travelers' dots do not break when they enter the EU.
