OpenAI's Codex lead says millions of Dots will be live within days — and that the product starts to click after two to three days of teaching it.

What happened

Thibault "Tibo" Sottiaux, OpenAI's Codex product lead, posted on X on September 30, 2026 that "We will have a few million dots online within days, working on all sorts of things across such a diverse and large community."

In the same post, he added a personal note on the product's learning curve: "Excited to learn from all of you on what you love and what doesn't yet feel magical. Personally I felt a jump after 2-3 days of use after teaching it…"

Why it matters

Dots launched at OpenAI's DevDay 2026 on September 29 — always-on AI agents powered by GPT-6 Astra, each with its own cloud computer, browser, and access to more than 4,000 apps via plugins. They are rolling out to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets (first dot included at no extra cost), with Enterprise betas enabled by workspace admins. Tibo's numbers give the first concrete signal of expected adoption scale, and his 2–3-day comment suggests the product's value compounds as users train their dots.
