Tibo processes a fresh Codex usage reset — community vote wins on Day 2 of the 28-day ship-or-reset sprint
Day 2 of Codex's 28-day ship-or-reset sprint ended with a usage reset: Tibo processed it after the community vote, and the shipped improvements stay in.
What happened
OpenAI's Codex and ChatGPT lead Thibault "Tibo" Sottiaux (@thsottiaux) announced on X that a Codex usage reset has been processed. Reset trackers pin it to October 7, 2026 at 03:35 UTC (8:35 pm PDT, October 6) — the first reset under his 28-day "ship one improvement or a full reset every day" program for Codex and ChatGPT Work, announced October 4.
The vote
Day 2 shipped four things Tibo described as "deemed good to great" plus math-proof write-ups. He put the day's outcome to the community: "the vote is clear and the community demands a reset. ... Therefore ... the reset has been processed. Enjoy!"
Improvements stay in
No one loses the Day 2 ships: "And we won't unship the improvements. You get to have your cake and eat it too." The Day 2 recap: auto-review ("Approve for me") is now free for all users signed in through a ChatGPT account and does not draw plan usage; friction removed for building on the API; meeting notes integrated; the Decisions API is live for builders. "See you tomorrow for Day 3!"
Why it matters
The reset follows the community vote without taking anything away: the Day 2 improvements stay shipped, and users get the processed usage reset on top — "You get to have your cake and eat it too."
