Wyndham courts AI agents: Muse, Dots, and Instinct can now book hotels on travelers' behalf

Wyndham's CEO said AI agents like Muse, Dots, and Instinct are a new guest category, and the hotel group now feeds them live rates and availability to win direct bookings.

What happened

On Wyndham's third-quarter earnings call (October 22, 2026), CEO Geoff Ballotti added a new guest category: AI agents that book travel on a traveler's behalf. He named Meta's Muse, OpenAI's Dots, and Instinct as assistants that can now search and book Wyndham hotels. Wyndham feeds the agents live availability and rates directly through its central reservation system. "If we could offer a direct booking path that an AI agent can execute on easily, then we capture that guest," Ballotti said. Morgan Stanley analyst Stephen Grambling pressed him on whether the payoff is more direct bookings or lower online-travel-agency costs.

Why it matters

This is the first major hotel group publicly pitching AI agents as a distribution channel on an earnings call. It signals that agent-driven bookings are moving from demos to real inventory: the company that wins the agent booking path wins the guest. For Dots and Muse, travel is becoming one of the first proving grounds for agentic commerce.
