Building paid web apps with Codex: Meng To's $100K MRR playbook (revenue is self-reported)
Meng To says apps he builds with Claude Code and Codex now make $100K a month. Here is his workflow, from idea to Stripe, with the revenue claim unverified.
What changed
On Oct 7, Meng To (@MengTo) posted a 45-minute tutorial on building paid web apps with Claude Code and Codex. He says his apps now bring in $100K in monthly recurring revenue, and that his Aura product is only about 20% of that after a change in strategy. He splits the work between tools: Claude Opus 5.5 for front-end design, and Codex for the harness, meaning the data, payments, and plumbing behind the app.
Who is affected
Solo builders and small teams who use Codex, alone or alongside Claude Code, to ship subscription web apps, especially on a React + Vite, Supabase, and Stripe stack.
What to do now
- Find ideas in the gaps of tools you already use every day, like Codex, Cursor, or Figma, or rebuild one of your old products the way you would build it today.
- Use a one-shot prompt only for a baseline, then rebuild the app in parts. His point: anyone can copy a one-shot.
- Name your stack and future needs in the first prompt: React + Vite, Supabase for the database and team collaboration, and Stripe Managed Payments for billing.
- Give one quality reference per feature, for example Figma for 2D tools, Spline for 3D, and Linear for the landing page.
- Add an AI layer through APIs so the product generates things rather than only displaying them, and keep provider API keys stored server-side.
- Ask the agent to score its own work out of 10 and screenshot its own mistakes before you review.
- For payments, have Codex set up the Stripe workflow and webhooks itself, and tell it to walk you through, step by step, anything only you can do.
- Record a demo, post it, paste the feedback back into your agent, and ship again.
What is not confirmed
The $100K MRR figure and the 20% Aura share are Meng To's own claims in his post. We have not seen Stripe or other revenue data, and the post does not say which apps make up the rest. How the work splits between Codex and Claude is his description. This is a field report and is not independently verified.
