Dots one week in: OpenAI fixed approvals and Outlook setup, and multi-computer support is next

Observed· Oct 6, 2026Published Oct 6, 2026

Rohan Varma, who works on dots and Codex at OpenAI, posted a one-week fix list. Most fixes target snags early users hit, and the roadmap adds more than one connected computer and deeper control of the Codex app.

What changed

A week after dots launched, OpenAI's Rohan Varma listed the fixes the team has shipped from user feedback. The ones you are most likely to notice:

  • Approval buttons no longer get clipped, and large Gmail previews no longer push approvals out of view.
  • Outlook setup no longer gets stuck.
  • Your phone stops getting extra notifications while you are already active in ChatGPT.
  • Cloud browsing is faster, and there are fewer pauses while you wait for a reply.
  • Your dot is better at deciding when to start a new Codex thread and when to continue an existing one.
  • Enterprise access problems on web and when starting voice are fixed, plan guidance is clearer, and activity that fails to load now has a retry option.
  • Smaller polish: cleaner code blocks and attachments on web, faster sidebar loading, fixed character rendering in Safari and Firefox, and steadier safety banners.

Who is affected

Anyone who already has a dot. Outlook users, people who struggled with approvals on Gmail-heavy tasks, and Enterprise users who hit access errors on web or voice should see the biggest difference.

What to do now

  • If you gave up on Outlook setup or a stuck approval earlier, try it again.
  • If Activity fails to load, use the retry option instead of restarting the work.
  • Keep planning around a single computer for now. The docs still say you can connect only one personal computer at a time, and it must be online with the ChatGPT app open.
  • For coding work, tell your dot whether to continue an existing Codex task or start a fresh one when its default choice does not fit.
  • OpenAI says voice is still not where it wants it, so give important instructions in text.

What is not confirmed

The fix list comes from an OpenAI team member's post, not dated release notes, and DotsFeed has not tested each fix. The roadmap items have no dates: connecting a dot to multiple computers, more control of the Codex app (managing project folders, full Codex thread context, renaming threads), a clearer view of what your dot is working on at any moment, better Windows support for local computer control, and more reliable voice.
