Building a paid AI tool solo with Codex? Frameliq reached $631 MRR by letting users bring their own model keys

Frameliq is a script-to-video AI studio: you import a screenplay (or have AI write one), build a storyboard scene by scene, then render video with models like Kling, Veo and Seedance, plus AI dialogue and music. Its founder, a solo maker in the UK who posts as @tinkerersanky, listed it on X in February under products "mostly built with Codex" and has described using Claude Code to document the codebase before a bigger model plans new features.

On Oct 21, TrustMRR's Stripe-connected listing showed about $631 MRR, 23 subscriptions, about $613 in the last 30 days and about $1,539 all-time, with MRR up roughly 59% over 30 days.

1. Let users bring their own keys. Frameliq works with users' own fal.ai and ElevenLabs keys, so a cheap subscription does not get eaten by generation costs.
2. Own the whole workflow. Script, storyboard, video, voice and music sit in one tool, which is the thing people pay for, rather than one model call.
3. Have an agent document the codebase first. Before a large feature, get a written map of the code, then let the model plan against it.
4. Grow through search and content. TrustMRR lists SEO, a blog and X as its channels, not paid ads.
