Dots
Give your Dot live web search with the Tavily plugin
Tavily says its plugin now works with OpenAI dots. Add it from Plugins, connect your Tavily account, and your Dot can search the web, pull text from a page, or research a topic.
What changed
Tavily, a web search API built for AI agents, announced on X on October 5, 2026 that its plugin works with OpenAI dots. You add Tavily from Plugins in ChatGPT, connect your Tavily account, and then your Dot can run a web search, pull the readable text out of a specific page, or research a topic for you. Tavily's tools cover search, page extraction, site mapping, and crawling.
Who is affected
Anyone with a Dot (ChatGPT Pro, Business Premium, or the Enterprise beta) who wants it to work from current web pages, not only from the apps already connected. OpenAI says a Dot can use supported plugins that are installed and enabled on the account, with the same permissions shared across ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex.
What to do now
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins and find Tavily (it is listed in the apps directory as Tavily AI).
- Connect your Tavily account.
- Give your Dot a concrete ask, such as "search for the latest news on X and give me three sources with links" or "extract the pricing table from this URL".
- Because plugin permissions are shared with ChatGPT and Codex, decide whether you want your Dot to ask before it acts on what it finds, and set an approval rule for those actions if so.
What is not confirmed
DotsFeed has not tested the Tavily plugin with a Dot yet; this is based on Tavily's own announcement and the plugin's ChatGPT listing. The announcement does not say how searches count against your Tavily plan or credits, or how results compare with the Dot's own built-in browser.
