What changed

Tibo (@thsottiaux) said on X that GPT-6.1 Sol is back to expected speed after a heavy load spike in its first two days. He also apologized for the slow start.

Earlier on Oct 1 he had said more capacity was online and that speed should get much better within hours, approaching twice the speed served the day before (that post). This newer note says the recovery has landed, not that it is still on the way.

Who is affected

People using GPT-6.1 Sol in ChatGPT and Codex. He did not limit the note to one plan or region.

What to do now

If Sol felt slow on Oct 1, try the same workload again. He did not describe a setting, model-picker change, or client update.

What is not confirmed

No latency figures, status-page incident, or per-region breakdown was attached. "Expected speeds" is his description. It is not confirmed that every plan, region, or API route is equally fast, or that the earlier target of nearly twice the previous day's speed was met.
