What changed
OpenAI rolled out GPT-Live-1.1 (and GPT-Live-1.1 Quip on some plans) for ChatGPT Voice. The update lands in Voice across ChatGPT, Codex, and dots. Preambles are more varied and less stuck on Checking..., accents are stronger across languages, and new Live voices cover French, German, Hindi, Mexican Spanish, Korean, Japanese, plus Bubbie in English.
Who is affected
Anyone using Voice in ChatGPT, Codex, or dots. OpenAI says the rollout is to all users today. API support is still coming. Exact voices and plan labels (Live vs Quip) can vary by region, plan, and account. Voice usage limits by plan still apply.
What to do now
Open Settings → Voice, pick Voice, and try one of the new language options if you speak or want to hear them. If you vibe-code or steer a Dot by voice and Checking... was getting in the way, start a fresh Voice session after the update lands so you pick up GPT-Live-1.1. Keep using Advanced only when you need video or screen sharing on mobile.
What is not confirmed
Whether every account sees every new voice on day one, how fast the API gets GPT-Live-1.1, and whether per-Dot persistent voice settings ship with this drop (users still ask for that separately).
