Building lots of ChatGPT Sites on Plus or Pro? The count cap is gone, but usage limits still add up across them

Observedยท Oct 15, 2026Published Oct 15, 2026

OpenAI says Plus and Pro accounts no longer have a cap on how many Sites they can create. The Help Center still says beta limits on usage and storage apply across all Sites on an account, so more Sites does not mean more room, and old ones can still count against you.

What changed

On Oct 15, Kath Korevec (@simpsoka) of OpenAI said the cap on how many Sites you can create is being removed for ChatGPT Plus and Pro, in a post quoting the Sites Enterprise launch. OpenAI Developers reposted it. She didn't say what the old number was; asked in replies, she answered that nobody knows.

The ChatGPT Sites Help Center article, last updated about two weeks earlier, still describes the public beta this way: Sites usage is included up to plan-specific limits, those limits apply across all Sites on the account, and hitting one can stop you from creating a new Site, adding storage, or keeping a high-usage Site public until usage drops. Removing the count cap does not remove those shared limits.

Who is affected

ChatGPT Plus and Pro users who build Sites in Work on the web or in Work or Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app, especially anyone who had been deleting old Sites to make room for new ones. Business and Enterprise workspaces weren't mentioned, and their limits can vary by workspace.

What to do now

  • Stop deleting Sites only to free a slot. Keep the ones you still use, and treat each new experiment as its own Site if that's easier to manage.
  • Watch the limit notices in the Sites experience. ChatGPT warns you as you approach a limit, and the limits are shared by every Site on the account.
  • Unpublish or restrict access to old Sites that still get traffic. A busy public Site can push the whole account toward its usage limit.
  • Check sharing on each new Site before you publish. A new Site starts limited to its owner, and with more Sites around it's easier to publish the wrong one publicly.
  • If a Site fails to create after this change, check whether you hit a storage or usage limit rather than the old count cap, and try again later if the rollout hasn't reached your account.

What is not confirmed

The change comes from a post by an OpenAI team member, and the Help Center hadn't been updated with it as of Oct 15. It isn't clear whether it is live for every Plus and Pro account yet, what the previous cap was, or whether storage and usage limits changed at the same time. DotsFeed has not tested creating Sites past the old cap.
