Tibo asks Codex Pro users: keep the 5-hour limit and get 2x weekly usage, or drop it at the same usage?
Tibo (@thsottiaux) is polling Pro users on how Codex limits should work. Nothing has changed yet; it is a poll, not an announcement.
What changed
On Oct 10 at 10:22 PM PT, Tibo (Thibault Sottiaux, who leads Codex at OpenAI) asked Pro users which limit setup they would rather have: keep the 5-hour limit and get twice the weekly usage, or remove the 5-hour limit with weekly usage unchanged. As of about 9 AM PT on Oct 11, with the poll still open, 'no 5h limits, same usage' led with about 86,000 votes against about 75,000 for '5h limits, 2X week usage'. The post had passed 1.8 million views and more than 4,400 replies. Voting closes around 10:22 AM PT on Oct 11.
Who is affected
ChatGPT Pro subscribers who use Codex and hit the 5-hour window or the weekly cap. Plus, Business and other plans were not part of the question.
What to do now
If you are on Pro, vote or reply in the thread while it is open, because this is a direct ask from the Codex team. Think about how you work: if you run long, bursty sessions that slam into the 5-hour window, dropping it helps more; if you mostly run out of weekly usage, the 2x weekly option gives you more total room. Keep planning around today's limits until OpenAI announces an actual change.
What is not confirmed
A poll is not a commitment. OpenAI has not said it will adopt the winning option, when anything would change, or whether other plans would follow. Vote counts above are a snapshot from an open poll and will move.
