Repeating the same project every week? Turn it into a ChatGPT Space with checklists and reusable prompts
One creator now runs his whole YouTube production pipeline out of a ChatGPT Space: a page per stage with a checklist, examples, and saved prompts that kick off real Codex work. OpenAI's docs back the building blocks; the UX still has rough edges, and a schedule written on a page does not run by itse
What changed
Space, announced at DevDay 2026, is the new home for pages and files in ChatGPT and replaces Library (Projects stay as they are). Ben Davis (@davis7) says it was the DevDay launch almost nobody covered, and ranks it second only to GPT-6.1 Sol.
His use: one space for his YouTube channel that has become the pipeline for every video. Each stage (planning, recording, editing, packaging) has its own checklist, examples, and premade prompts for the repetitive parts. Those prompts cover coming up with a video idea and filing it in his Notion database in the right format, getting footage ready for Final Cut with computer use, and pulling face shots from the footage for the thumbnail. He says the chats started inside a space are real Codex runs, so computer use works there, and that you can tag a space from any other thread.
OpenAI's own docs line up with the building blocks. The page insert menu (type /) has Prompt, Task, and Agent Instructions blocks for reusable prompts, actions for Codex, and guidance for agents, and you can mention @ChatGPT or @dot inline or in a comment to have an agent act on the page.
Who is affected
Pro, Business, and Enterprise ChatGPT users on web and the desktop app, per OpenAI's DevDay recap. On mobile you can find, read, and share pages, but creating and editing there is still coming. It fits best for anyone who repeats the same multi-step project, such as a video, a newsletter issue, a launch, or a client report.
What to do now
- Make one space per repeating project, with one page or subpage per stage.
- At the top of each stage page, put a checklist and one or two finished examples so the agent can see what good output looks like.
- Use / then Prompt for each repetitive request you would otherwise retype, and / then Task for steps you want Codex to carry out.
- Use @dot or @ChatGPT in a page comment for small, scoped edits, and use the chat next to the page for bigger revisions.
- Do not count on a schedule written on a page. OpenAI says Keep Updated is not available at launch and that writing a cadence in a page or its instructions does not schedule anything. Set up recurring work by asking ChatGPT in chat, then check the saved task and one real run.
What is not confirmed
The pipeline and the claim that chats inside a space are full Codex runs with working computer use come from one user's field report and were not independently verified. He also reports UX problems that OpenAI has not addressed publicly: tabs feel odd, a page's embedded thread sometimes opens full screen and sometimes in the bottom right corner, and you cannot put two subpages side by side, only the main page plus a chat. He also called Dots and cloud "a mess" at launch without details, so we are not reporting that as a finding.
