Dots
Use your Dot as the front door to Codex
OpenAI DevX Dominik Kundel recommends routing work through your Dot so it can fan Codex tasks to local and cloud while you keep talking.
What changed
Dominik Kundel (@dkundel), OpenAI DevX for Codex, published a field guide on using Dots with Codex. His shorthand: delegate to your Dot, collab with Codex. Dots sit on the same Codex agent harness and can start local Codex and Codex Cloud tasks while you keep talking on Slack, phone, or desktop.
Who is affected
ChatGPT Dots users who already use Codex (or a thread-of-threads setup) and want less mental overhead coordinating work.
What to do now
Set up your Dot in the ChatGPT desktop app and connect local Codex. Send tasks through the Dot instead of opening Codex threads by hand — tag it in Slack, call it, or chat. Prefer cloud for backend or quick copy changes and local for major front-end work if that matches how you work. Tell the Dot what it can do alone versus what needs your review (prompt or custom rules). Kundel notes Dots do not consume ChatGPT usage limits unless they delegate to local Codex or Codex Cloud.
What is not confirmed
This is practitioner guidance from an OpenAI DevX engineer on X, not an official product changelog. Exact plan or region availability and limit behavior may vary; treat the usage-limit claim as reported by the author.
