Tibo hits inbox zero: his dot deleted, labeled, and triaged 9,000+ unread emails to zero

OpenAI's Thibault "Tibo" Sottiaux says he had never achieved inbox zero in his life — until he made it his dot's job: batch email deletes, work-type labeling, and background reply triage got him from 9,000+ unread to zero.

What happened

The milestone — quoting Tibo's own words from his X post last night: "I have never in my life achieved inbox zero until I just made it an active goal for my dot to help get it done. Let's see how long it lasts, but it's a great feeling."

What the dot did

In a companion post laying out exactly what the agent did:

  • Deleted entire categories of emails he didn't need to keep, validating them in batch
  • Identified the types of work he does and labeled all emails accordingly
  • Walked him through the emails that needed replies, searching for relevant context in the background to get them right

"It was a good Saturday," he wrote — after also using the session to clear feedback and requests people send him directly by email.

Why it matters

The backstory — two days earlier, Tibo set the challenge publicly: his dot would take his inbox from 9,000+ unread to zero within 48 hours (it was at 6,110 unread at the time). It got there — a live build-log of an always-on agent doing real work, not a demo.
